Upgraded to WordPress 2.7

I just spent a few minutes upgrading my blog to wordpress 2.7. Looks like everything went smoothly! I did this upgrade with mercurial queues again. WordPress 2.7 is supposed to have better upgrade support built in, so I may not need mercurial for future upgrades.

Please let me know if you notice anything strange or missing since the upgrade.

  • I don’t like WordPress. They have too many strict rules. They don’t like Adsense, and they don’t like affiliate links such as the ones on Clickbank. I got banned once for promoting something that I really love because it was an affiliate program. My blog had great original contents, and the link to the affiliate program would usually be small text link down at the bottom of a post. Since then, I started using Blogger and loved it. They don’t have as much rules as WordPress.

  • Fortunately I’m hosting my own copy of WordPress, so I’m not subject to those strict rules.

Using third party hosting has advantages and disadvantages, ad you rightly point out. I figure that since I have the technical ability to do it myself, I might as well!
